I’ve said this about other books I’ve reviewed already, but this is a page-turner and is hard to put down. It is a book I’ve handed off to there insisting they read it. Coffey has insight from so many members of this legendary game, and it is only rivaled by the HBO documentary Do You Believe in Miracles? The Story of the 1980 U.S. Hockey Team for its in-depth look at the far-reaching implications beyond the game.
I am fascinated at the Russian side of the story and how the loss did not seem like a big deal until they returned to Russia.
A hockey fan, sports history fan, Cold War history fan, doesn’t matter which one you are you need to read this book.
