Tendy Talk Episode 10 – Steve Thompson
For episode 10 of Tendy Talk, I chat to former University of Alaska-Fairbanks goaltender and current USA Hockey ADM Manager of Goaltending Steve Thompson. Steve and I talk about how he got into the game (not hard for an Alaskan), and what USA Hockey’s 51 in 30 initiative is.
Prior to recording the episode with Steve, I attended the Bronze Goalie Coach Development seminar. Due to COVID the seminar was done via Zoom. It doesn’t matter that I’ve been playing goal for nearly 30 years, I learned something new during this seminar, and felt energized about the future of goalie coaching in America. What’s better about the USA Hockey goalie coach development seminars is that they’re open to anyone from around the globe. While the goal of the initiative is to have 51-percent of professional goaltenders American born by 2030, the organization wants to share their knowledge with anyone who wants to learn.
