Tendy Talk Episode 31 – Chris Jenkins
For Episode 31 of Tendy Talk presented by the BLPA Podcast Network, I chat with Chris Jenkins of the UK Goalie Network. I came across Chris on Instagram and became intrigued with hockey in the UK. Hockey over there interests me because my grandmother grew up in England, and on a family trip in 1996 I meet a fellow in the neighborhood pub who was a big hockey fan. We talk about hockey every night. My uncle even drove us about an hour and a half to a rink so we could go to open skate. When my aunt and uncle visited a few years later the guy sent along a number of British hockey magazines that I read over and over.
It was fun talking to Chris to learn that hockey – while a small niche sport in the country – has a talented and dedicated following that appears to be growing. It was interesting to learn about the restrictions they’ve faced in the U.K. during the pandemic, and heard how his recovery from a recent hip surgery is going.
