Tendy Talk Episode 33 – Shane Phillips
For Episode 33 of Tendy Talk presented by the BLPA Podcast Network, I chat with Bantam goalie Shane Phillips of South Carolina. Both Shane and his step-dad followed my plea at the end of every episode that if you are a goalie, or know one I should talk to reach out to me. Shane’s step-dad said they listen to the podcast on their way to the rink or on road trips to away games.
It was fun to talk to Shane about youth hockey during a pandemic, getting his start playing in Florida and now South Carolina (neither state known for their thriving hockey communities), returning to the ice after breaking his back while horsing around with friends, and heading the advice of past Tendy Talk guests. Shane mentioned that he really enjoys the lest question of my rapid-fire questions that I close out every episode with because it provides him some insight into the game that us older goalies can impart onto his generation of goalies.
