Ice Jacks vs Flyers MNWAHL Championship Game

When I agreed to fill in for the Ice Jacks this season because my team was skipping the fall season and their goalie has just had surgery I hoped I’d play well and get them to the championship game. My regular-season performance was abysmal with an 81,37 save percentage and 5.45 G.A.A. Knowing every team made the playoffs though I wasn’t panicking yet. When the playoffs rolled around though I magically found my game again and posted a 9.25 save percentage and 2.33 G.A.A. in three playoff games. Unfortunately, we ran into a hot goalie in the MNWAHL D Sunday North championship game and could only muster one goal compared to their four (I don’t count the empty-net goal).

I had two friends on the Flyers who I skate with when at the 4 The Love of Puck skates. That made me want to win even more. An early questionably penalty shot call put us down early. There should have been a call on the play, but their player over-embellished when my teammate lifted his stick. On the penalty shot thought the guy made a nice move. The Flyers were able to muster three more dirty goals with traffic in front of the net. One was a shot I was set to stop until one of my defensemen tried to stop the shot but instead redirected it between my legs.

It was a tough game to lose, but it has left the fellas hungry for the winter season, a season I’ll probably get some more games in with them as their goalie probably won’t be ready to go. I am looking forward to returning to my Hosers team after they took the fall session off.
