Hosers vs. GMI Generals
I always look forward to playing the GMI Generals because my buddy Shawn Himmelberger is their goalie. I even felt good early in this game. I was tracking the puck well, even managing to knock the puck out of midair with my stick a few times. Unfortunately, we had a short bench and the combination of fatigue and poor defensive play bit us and bit us big in a 10-1 loss.
In watching the game film, I was pleased that I made 33 saves, many through partial screens and several tips, but I’m still working on rebound control. While some rebounds were placed right at the feet of Generals skaters I was lucky they couldn’t get a stick on it. My other struggle was Generals skaters finding ways to be wide open My goals against – expected goals against jumped to 3.96 this game because of the troubles mentioned.
While it was a rough game, I had gotten over it before I left the lockerroom. We have another game this Sunday and I’ll approach it with a fresh mind, and hopefully a full bench.
