Dump Stars vs. Old Castle
This is the first video from my AAHL team the Dump Stars. I had both cameras, but the one on the far end didn’t record for some reason. We faced Old Castle, a team higher than us in the standings as we fight for a playoff spot.
We had a full bench while they had 8 skaters so this was a chance for us to capitalize on their turnout, but we also knew they are a good team with an explosive offense when needed.
We dominated the first period, playing maybe our best period all season, but spectacular play by the Old Castle goalie kept the game 1-0 in our favor. We lead 3-1 after two periods, the Old Castle goal coming off a fantastic backhand shot. An odd man rush with a shot I didn’t have much of a chance to stop to start the third period brought Old Castle within 1. We continued to dominate, but possibly the worst goal I’ve allowed in years tied the game – and became a difference maker as we went to 3-3 overtime where a turnover led to a breakaway I almost had, but barely crossed the goal line.
I’m still mad at myself for that third goal as I started to open up just as the shot was taken and it bit me in the back side.
