Dumpstars vs Polar Bears
The AAHL Winter regular season came to an end with our game against the Polar Bears. We were in the playoff hunt almost till the end, chasing down the fourth and final playoff spot. We needed to win this game, but also have another team lose their final game. They won their game, eliminating us, but we still wanted to prove we could have kept up our end of the scenario.
Unfortunately one of my cameras had a memory card issue so we only have footage from one end. Luckily I was able to capture a number of our goals.
The game was tighter than it needed to be after the first period as we led only 1-0 off a lucky bounce from a shot below the goal line. I stopped 25 of 29 shots en route to a 10-4 victory. Two of the goals were what I call pinball goals that bounced off a few things, but I should have still had them.
We ended the season 18-8-2 with 22 points, tied for fourth place, but we lost out on the playoff spot in head-to-head play due to our slow start to the season.
We have a short break, then we’ll be back at it for the summer season.
