Sota Stick Hockey Classic: Down in the Valley vs Running Aces Part II
The championship round of the Sota Stick Hockey Classic benefiting the Hendrickson Foundation had my Team Down in the Valley pitted in a rematch with Team Running Aces. They were a little bitter after their opening game loss to us (can you blame them), and I think our age caught up to us as we seemed to be a bit slower in our fourth game in 24 hours. That being said, I made some saves I had no business making enrout to a 38 save losing effort, and most importantly we had fun not just in this game but the whole tournament. We knew we were there for a good cause.
It was in this game that I made possibly my best save of the tournament. I was on my back, after making a barrel-roll save, tracking the puck, and the shot came in but I was able to kick my leg up just enough to get a piece of the puck and kick it over the net.
I finished the tournament with 123 saves, but a less than desirable 83.11 goals against average.
