Hosers vs Stacked Like Pancakes

When I looked at the calendar to see who we were playing this week I noticed a familiar team name, but familiar from my time playing up a division with the Ice Jacks. This week we played Stacked Like Pancakes who are playing down a division this season. I also learned after the game that our two teams were once one about 20 years ago before splitting into what they are now.

As expected, it was a busy night for me as I saw 45 shots on goal. I stopped 38. Despite losing 7-2, I felt like I was playing well throughout the whole game. I wished I could have had the first goal back as it was a weak goal. For this game, I tracked shots using the Stop It Goaltending Game Day app. According to the app I had a 6.38 expected goals against. I had several shots off cross-ice passes that I stopped, and a lot of broken plays in front of the net.

Despite letting seven goals in, I knew I played well by the reactions of the opposing team. One even asking for my phone number so I can be added to the team’s goalie sub-list. Another jokingly came up to me to do a fake ESPN interview.

Rebound control was still an issue, but I wasn’t putting pucks in dangerous areas. I need to work on turning rebounds into whistles.
