Fall Season Openr | Hosers vs. Ole Pipe Chiefs
The 2022 Fall MNWAHL season at the Super Rink kicked off this season. We have three new faces on the team as one player is out with injury, another has a scheduling conflict, and another is just going to be a sub. We could tell it was the first game because nobody talked about who would bring the beer, meaning nobody brought the beer. We blame the rookies.
Just looking at the scoreboard this was a rough game. We lost 9-1, with our one goal coming with 90 seconds left in the game. I saw 39 shots, stopping 30 for a 76.92% save percentage. There were several odd-man rushes, and the Ole Piper Chiefs had crisp passing, resulting in a few back-and-forth cross-ice passes that left me with little chance to make the save (although I was close, but close doesn’t count). The Stop It Goaltending Game Day app says I had an expected goals against of 6.99 – we’ll round up to 7.
The good news is we have another game this Sunday so we’ll see how we do.
As can be seen at the beginning of the highlight video, I wore the pink Toe Drag Apparel Shinny Skins socks I got my Mom while she was going through chemo. I usually wore my Chicago version of these socks, but I’ll wear Mom’s from here on out (till the socks fall apart) so that she is there with me on the ice in some small way.
