Sota Stick Hockey Classic – Bill’s Toggery vs Invictus Brewery

Team Toggery earned a trip to the Championship game of the inaugural Sota Stick Hockey Classic going 2-0-1 in pool play, but a six-hour break between our third game and the championship game gave our team too much time to re-hydrate. Of our four games, this was by far our worst effort. More importantly, I could have played better, giving my team a better chance in the game. Much credit goes to team Invictus as they played a good game, and took advantage of opportunities and bounces. Also surprisingly, the team sponsored by a brewery that was right across the street from the rink didn’t hydrate the same way my team did.

Despite the outcome, it was a fantastic weekend of hockey that raised money for the Hendrickson Foundation. The foundation helps provide opportunities to the disabled communities to play the great game of hockey. They support wounded warrior teams, sled hockey teams, and even blind hockey teams. They believe that hockey is for everybody, and I agree with them.

I can’t wait till next year’s tournament so we can play more hockey and raise more money for the Hendrickson Foundation.
