Hosers vs. GMI Generals

Not a game I care to remember. I didn’t face many shots (20 total), but more so because I felt a pop in my groin while trying to make a save (which I didn’t and they scored) in our MNWAHL winter season game against the GMI Generals. My options when I felt the pop were to leave the game, forcing my team to play with 6 skaters and no goalie with the game tied, or suck it up and play through the pain. I chose to suck it up. The other team put 2 of their next 7 shots in to beat us by 1 goal. Turns out the final score was only 6-5, not 7-6 that I put in the video too.

Injuries like this are common in goalies, but I try to stretch more than the average goalie to prevent such injuries, but every few years I overextend and feel that all too familiar pop. In the past I’ve tried to come right back, only to see the injury take longer to heal and bother me but, if I take a week or two off I’ve learned I can return to pain-free play much sooner.
