Mustangs vs Freeze
This was a fill-in game for me as I skated with the fellas from the 4 The Love of Puck project in their weekly MNWAHL game.. I skated in their outdoor tournament a few weeks ago, and some of my Red Wing Shoes teammates were on this team. They were a skilled team, that played good defense, meaning fewer shots (18 total) than I am used to. I think this threw me off a little as 2 of the 3 goals I let in were bad angle shots I would normally have had. In the end, we got the W, winning 5-3 and there was cold beer in the locker room after the game which is always a plus.
The win propelled me to 4-0 in non-Hosers games this winter season. When I fill-in for a team I always want to play well, but more importantly get them the victory. I’m on a nice little streak of fulfilling that second desire. Sometimes though you fill-in for a team and can tell they’re just not that good and a victory won’t be in the cards that night – you are just there as a human shooter tutor.
